instagram: jan_kowalik_ Jan Kowalik is a 21-year-old artist based in Warsaw, Poland. Currently student at Academy of fine arts in Warsaw. Young and hard working, his ouvre is suprprisingly mature for his age. He already took part in numerous exhibiitions including "Niedziennik", a solo show in which he explored lust to romanticize and give meaning to spaces where we live, even greyish and ugly ones. This contradiction beetween uglyness and beauty is something that he loves to examine. His artistic style evolved over the years, from more loose oil painting figurative approach, to more simple, sometimes minimal and synthetic use of color and form. Power of his images lays not only in great technical skills, but also in his tender character, enabling him to feel diverse emotions and states, both his and others, then puting it all into his artworks. People often say that his works bring them some feelings of nostalgia, distant memory. Kowalik's art is a celebration of life, both happy and sad, drawing inspiration from the daily experiences and activities of people. His closest surroundings- Białołęka, Warsaw, and it's problems are very inspirational for him, as well as his closest ones. In his works he often shift from speaking of emotions, people, places to social commentary, his works offer unique blend of characteristic that offers a interesting approach to painting- window to his life, worldview, surroundings. He often says that he paints what just cannot be told. As a dedicated student at the Academy of Fine Arts, Jan Kowalik continues to refine his craft and push the boundaries of his artistic expression. With unique stoic perspective on life and ever-growing body of work Jan Kowalik is poised to make a lasting impact on the art world in the years to come.
