Guillermo Bublik

I grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and came to the U.S.A. to pursue a graduate degree in Physics. I saw beauty in the symmetrical arrangement of Maxwell’s equations of electro-magnetism and in Einstein’s General Relativity formulation to describe gravitation, and found it fascinating that a set of formulas could describe real life processes.

I believe that a unified source of scientific, technical, and artistic creativity lies in the thirst to find underlying patterns and beauty in the world we inhabit.

I retired from a long technical career in late 2018 and started painting right away. Even though this path was serendipitous, it now feels very logical, as it provides a way to continue to tend to this thirst.

The process of painting itself is what fires my imagination. I believe that the hand expressing the subconscious feelings and the rational mind designing a work of art thrive when they are a single step out of sync. When they are far out of pace the result is either a chaotic or a stilted piece.

I enjoy creating room for the unexpected. Controlled chaos leads to the need to stretch one’s imagination and techniques to incorporate unintended results into the overall work. In my opinion, this points to pain...
