I am a huge fan of mid-century modern art and design. I just love its optimistic outlook of America's atomic age, zippy geometric graphics and upbeat retro vibe. With a professional background in advertising and graphic design, and growing up in the 1950s - 60s, mid-century modern’s timeless qualities still resonate with me, and seemed like the natural choice from which to draw inspiration and a body of work. I like to paint in the mornings in my home studio here in southern Idaho while listening to jazz artists from that modernist era, like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Desmond, to name a few. With its sophisticated and minimalist approach to contemporary art, interior design, distinctive color palette, and forward-thinking approach to graphic design and advertising, all things mid-century modern era continues to inspire and influence my work.
