Wayne King

For Wayne King, there are no rules. As a mixed media artist he embraces spontaneity and self-expression by using a variety of materials along with different application techniques. Wayne's artform is known for its versatility from his drawings and paintings, to wood, clay, foam, and wire sculptures, to paper clothing and masks. His preferred medium is wax which is used in a number of his abstract encaustic paintings. Born and rasied in Brooklyn, New York, music has a profound influence on Wayne's artwork. As a musican himself, Wayne is drawn to the freedom artists have to express themselves. The elements of improvisation influenced from jazz music translates into Wayne's abstract art pieces that express his creative freedom and evoke unexpected emotions in the viewer.

Wayne King received formal training as an artist at Shippensburg University where he attended as an Art Major from 2013-2017. The University's Art and Design Department invited him back as a guest lecturer to teach Interdisciplinary Arts. You can find Wayne's artworks featured in many exhibitions throughout the established Shippensburg Art Program and Pennsylvania's Council On The Arts as well as the surrounding art galleries in the area. Wayne currently resides in Waynesboro, PA with his wife and three children as a full time artist, constantly reinventing himself to create new ways to express his ever growing talents and never ending ideas.
