Natalia Kutova is an inspiring self-taught artist based in San Diego, California. Her artistic journey is quite exciting, as she transitioned from being a Fulbright scholar and educator to a celebrated artist. Born and raised in Ukraine, Natalia moved to the United States in 2006 as a Fulbright scholar. She has a multifaceted background, with degrees in Music, Linguistics, and Education. Natalia’s artistic journey began unexpectedly in 2017. The artworks in impasto technique displayed in a local art salon caught Natalia's eye. It was a lightning bolt moment - Natalia knew she wanted to paint like that. A spark was ignited, which turned into a passion so strong that she willingly departed her prospering teaching career to fully immerse herself in painting. Now, Natalia Kutova works in her studio in San Diego, CA as a full-time artist. Natalia’s transition from academia to the art world embodies the courage to embrace new passions, inspiring others to take bold steps toward their own aspirations. Natalia Kutova wields a palette knife and acrylics to sculpt impasto masterpieces. She relentlessly explores the bounds of the impasto technique, seeking to infuse her paintings with a tactile three-dimensional effect to achieve more visual intensity in conveying certain meaning. The main subject of her painting is flowers and trees, which are extrapolated from the reality and reconceptualized in her painting to the level of visual metaphors, expressing a wide variety of ideas, thoughts, and feelings. Instead of striving for exact representation, she tries to imbue these natural forms with profound meaning, allowing for a diverse array of interpretations. Marked by a technique that entails the creation of heavily textured and almost sculptural masterpieces, her art possesses an unmistakable uniqueness. It is in this fusion of technique, subject matter, and intention that she endeavors to evoke a powerful and lasting impact upon all who encounter her artistic creations.
