Chee-Keong Kung

Chee responds to material characteristics and accidental marks as impetus for further actions. Forethought and happenstance play equally important roles. In the Dispersion Series, hard edges and improvisational washes are applied in layers over time, intermingling with recurring memories and residual images from the day. The process continues until the work appear to hover between chaos and control, density and weightlessnes...Chee’s work is in the collection of The National Museum Art Gallery of Singapore, The DC Commission of Art & Humanities, and corporate & private collections. Born in Singapore, Chee studied at The University of Houston and Cornell University. He lives and works in McLean, Virginia.
