Elena Pach

Elena Pach lives and works in Chicago. She began drawing and painting as a child, growing up in a family of artists. The one-hundred-unit apartment building where she lived in Kyiv belonged to the Artists’ Union, and nearly all of her neighbors were painters, ceramicists, or art critics. As a child, she believed the world consisted entirely of artists.

At the age of ten, Pach entered the Republican Art School in Kyiv, traveling across the city each day to attend classes. She later graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in 1994. That same year, she moved to the United States in search of new experiences and opportunities.

A central idea in Pach’s work is the uniqueness of every individual, including the artist herself. She believes that authentic art creates an unmistakably personal world and that success is achieved when viewers immediately recognize a work as hers through its singular visual language.

Drawing inspiration from mythology, Ukrainian folklore, ornament, and elements of popular culture, Pach has remained deeply connected to the artistic vision she developed early in life.
