Magdalena Daniec is a painter and visual artist. Painting is her way of life. One could also add that it is the perfect medium for storytelling; Magdalena is an excellent narrator, although in the case of her paintings, these are not stories that unfold in a linear fashion. Rather, we get the impression that the artist shares only fragments of the stories she tells. Magdalena eagerly uses collage, combining oil painting with acrylics, and sometimes monotype, which allows her to create a sense of spatial depth and multi-layered texture on her canvases. This invites viewers to look deeper, beyond the frame of the image. She also makes use of the art-historical technique of the "painting within a painting," which opens up new, box-within-a-box style narratives. It’s impossible not to mention the role of color in her work. For Magdalena, color carries a strong emotional charge; red, which she usually pairs with white and black, is her preferred choice in the winter months when she needs extra energy and warmth. Blues and emerald greens, on the other hand, bring her calm and coolness in summer. She also reaches for various shades of gray, which allow her to reveal subtle tonal transitions and demonstrate the sensitivity with which she approaches the color composition of her paintings. Just as important as the painting on canvas, small works on cardboard are for the author. They are very intimate expressions of the artist, mini stories about tenderness, longing, and femininity. An objective confirmation of Magdalena Daniec’s artistic value is the fact that her paintings are sought after at art auctions, with their prices showing a significant upward trend for some time now. Collectors recognize the emotional and formal depth present in her work. Her art is undoubtedly a successful synthesis of personal exploration with universal themes—a sharing of her vision of everyday experience, told through ever-new stories of the micro and macro worlds. Magdalena Daniec (born 1974 in Kraków, Poland) is an author of solo exhibitions: Traces in The Sky, Signs on Earth (2025), Afterimages of Places and Events (2024), Nostalgia (2022), Weather Forecast for the Northern Sky (2021), Recycling of Stories Without a Punchline (2020), Partial Anhedonia (2016), They (2009), Atlantis (2006), Mechanical Brothers (2002), Iconostasis (2001) She is finalist in painting competitions and reviews.
