Jonathan Bray

Jonathan Bray (b. 1982) is an artist working in watercolour and etching/aquatint, who specialises in depicting the urban environment. Since 2010 he has spent time living in Paris, New York, London and Paris again – most recently spending 6 months based in Paris's 9e Arrondisement.

"Watercolour is a medium that offers emotive colour and wonderfully fluid effects - there is nothing like it for capturing atmosphere. These pieces were painted while I was living a few streets away on King William Walk. Greenwich is steeped in history, and feels as if each street has seen its fill of stories unfold. I hope that some of this sense of place comes across in my paintings."
