Leonida Savic

About the Artist

Leonida Savic

Montenegro

Leonida Savic works within the surrealist tradition, drawing equally from dream logic and the philosophical deciphering of the psyche — not as opposing methods but as two routes to the same territory.
Developed in independence from dominant art world centers, her body of work records an attempt of the mind to apply structural logic to the questions consciousness usually escapes from. She does not answer them. She constructs the conditions in which they can become questionable without inherited interpretations.
Working primarily in oil, Savic has developed a distinctive visual vocabulary: elongated and fragmented figures, geometric forms in tension with organic line, and symbolic structures used not as cultural references but as solutions to problems that resist direct representation. Her paintings do not illustrate ideas — they think through image. Ambiguity functions here as structural condition rather than aesthetic choice; meaning emerges gradually, requiring sustained engagement.
Her work has been recognized by the Luxembourg Art Prize and featured in the Saatchi Art collection.
