Daniel Devon

I live in the south of Spain, where the Mediterranean light reflects off the ocean’s surface and bounces back from the mountain tops. I find the inspiration for my artworks in plants, animals, land- and seascapes, and of course in people – their smiles, gestures and interactions.
I use various media for my paintings, including (alkyd) oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink and charcoal. I like to experiment with mixed media and creating intricate textures to show the interaction of light and color.
I spent my youth in tropical countries which is where a lot of my inspiration derives from. I've drawn and painted all my life and have followed dedicated drawing and painting classes for several years.
I believe art can make us see the world around us from a different perspective. It enhances our experience and can evoke many emotions. The challenge for me as an artist is to transform my impressions of the world around me into paintings that speak to others.
