Kirsten Schankweiler

Kirsten Schankweiler is a contemporary abstract artist based in Nieder-Olm, Germany. Inspired by nature, she creates atmospheric paintings that do not depict landscapes literally, but translate their moods, movement and quiet energy into colour, texture and layered forms.

Working primarily with acrylics and mixed media, including spray paint, airbrush colour, oil pastels and modelling paste, Schankweiler builds her paintings through an intuitive, multi-layered process. Each layer leaves visible traces, creating depth and a balance between calm and movement. Her compositions draw on memories of forests, coastlines, lakes, changing seasons and open landscapes.

She has worked as a freelance artist since 2005 and studied at Kunstwerkstatt Mainz from 2009 to 2012, graduating with distinction in 2013. Her work has been presented at exhibitions and international art fairs in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy and the United States. Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide.

Through her work, Schankweiler invites viewers to experience nature rather than simply observe it—and to create a personal space of harmony, reflection and connection.
