Claire is a german artist who is deeply in love with the beauty of silence - and so her art is connected to it. The first time she remembers really having been conscious about silence was at the age of six or seven, when she suddenly found herself being deeply fascinated by the pause between the ticking of a clock. Claire, who has been an introverted child, considered that – in this short period of complete absence of noise – doors to hidden, exciting worlds could open. She just had to listen.
Today, her art often refers to a concept of silence she has in mind. ForClaire, silence is a kind of space. It can be a home, a landscape, a close encounter or a sharp border. It can be found within a soft and warm embrace and, as the quiet before a storm, cause intimacy or isolation.
Silence, in all of its manifestations, can inspire us in ways we don’t understand. Claire uses her art to make this silence visible. Creating art – which in her case means painting, printmaking and sculpting – lets her embrace a part of herself which is inaccessible otherwise.

Graduated in musicology, german literature and dramatics. Living and working as an independent artist and writer in Berlin, Germany, since 2005. I'm a self-taught artist who exhibits regularly. My paintings can be found in private collections internationally.
