Daniel Haynie

I was born and raised in the panhandle of west Texas ( the Llano Estacado) where I now live. I started making welded metal sculpture after taking a welding course. Making sculpture was a hobby until I began to consign my work for sale in galleries in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have exhibited in galleries all over the southwest. I consider myself a self-taught sculptor, but I did have some art education.

My art education consist of a high school art course and three university level courses, drawing, design and art history. My real school where I learned to work metal was in manufacturing , making cotton gin parts, farm implements, pump jacks, fences and such. Working in welding jobs I learned how to cut, bend, break, roll, weld, grind and sand metal, I learned how shape, form and construct metal objects.
