This photo was inspired by my visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu, Hawaii. We watched the show on the lagoon of the dancers. I love the movement of the dancers in this piece.

My journey as an artist has not been a straight path. I embarked on a professional career in healthcare, but I have been fortunate to develop a simultaneous path as an artist. I have been creating oil paintings for over 30 years. The career I chose in healthcare was in mental health wherein people heal through connection with others. Yet for me, I was also destined to become an artist - allowing my paintings to speak for me in ways that I cannot express through words. I paint because I love it, plain and simple. I love sharing cheerful colors, images and happy memories. But I also paint to share that vision in my mind with others. My hope is to offer some reminders, in a whimsical vibrant way of the delightful images that already surround us. We live in very busy and hectic times. As a healthcare provider, I am a strong believer in how certain imagery can be very powerful in evoking different emotions such as joy and relaxation. It is my hope that my pieces will create that same sense of serenity for others. Being an artist in beautiful San Diego, living close to beaches and many hiking trails, has allowed me to create a lot of plein air paintings inspired by the natural surroundings in the area. I also love to paint images inspired by my travels around the world. Although my daytime profession is in healthcare, my artful spirit calls me to create again and again. Thank you for enjoying my work.
