OLAWUYI OLUWOLE
Olawuyi Oluwole, popularly known as Wole, is a contemporary Nigerian artist from Kwara State,
born in 1989. He began his artistic journey at the age of nine and has since developed a
distinctive visual language rooted in texture, symbolism, and emotional storytelling. Known for
his expressive use of the impasto technique with palette knives and brushstrokes, Wole creates
richly layered works that explore identity, culture, femininity, and human emotion.
He received his early artistic training at Baptist Primary School under the mentorship of Mr.
Oladele and later gained recognition as the best secondary school student in sculpture through
an NYSC award. Wole further studied Fine and Applied Art at Kwara State College of
Education, where he refined his technical and creative practice.
Now a full-time studio artist with over eight years of professional experience, Wole is a member
of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Abuja Chapter. His works have been featured in
exhibitions and competitions, earning attention for their bold textures, contemporary African
narratives, and emotional depth. Through his art, Wole continues to create compelling visual
experiences that connect across cultures and audiences.
