I am an empath. Words cannot describe my art. Emotions tell a bigger story. I tell my stories through paintings inspired by all forms of nature, my imagination and music.
Gestural abstraction is my chosen discipline because of the freedom I feel painting loosely using my emotions. My intent is to evoke curiosity from every sense. Joy, peace, serenity, maybe even occasional dark. I like to achieve incredible depth through texture and color. I bring my soul into each painting by titling the pieces with song. My love of music is only surpassed by my love of art.
Visual inspiration is a beautiful garden, breathtaking sunsets or a fabulous landscape. When creating on wood panels, the grain of the wood is oftentimes inspiration alone.
I enjoy a minimalist approach to watercolor and gouache painting. I use a special scraping technique on dry paper. I use water, brush, palette knife or air to move the paint.
Although I am only creating commissioned work on wood now, I am one of a few artists in the country creating abstract art on wood panels with colored stains. The stain is applied directly to bare wood and my hands are my biggest paintbrush. On occasion I work with a brush for detail and for accenting my pieces with alcohol ink or ...

I am a self taught creative. Creativity has been a way of life for as long as I can remember. I have enjoyed many creative outlets such as drawing with pencil, interior decorating, graphic design, acrylic painting, repurposing furniture and whatever else I could find to quench this thirst I have to recreate, reinvent or revolutionize.

"My art is unrivaled because I am currently the only artist in the country creating abstract art on wood panels with colored stains. Most always, I use only my hands, but on occasion I work with a brush for detail and include other mediums such as alcohol ink in my work. I love to blend and combine colors creating my own hues and palette. I oftentimes use a lot of water with my stains to mute or soften areas within each artwork."

Susi has taken several continuing education courses including drawing and watercolors and continues to further her techniques through watching other artists.
