The inspiration for this piece came from the rich cultural traditions of Sardinia, particularly the enigmatic figures of the Sardinian Carnival. I’ve always been fascinated by the way these masked characters embody a deep connection to the past, blending mystery and folklore. Their presence in the C...

Marcello Steri – Art That Unites Emotion and Innovation The Artist and His Roots Marcello Steri, self-taught and multifaceted, gives form to the meeting of tradition and the avant-garde, guiding the audience on a journey through sculptures and installations charged with universal meaning. Born in San Sperate, the “museum village” of Sardinia, Marcello breathed art from childhood, nurturing a vision that weaves together historical memory and modernity. The Path to Mastery Influenced by prominent figures in the art world, Marcello took his first steps behind the scenes of exhibitions and fairs, learning to blend creativity with technique. In 2007 he moved to Olbia, where he honed both civil and nautical woodworking skills. In 2021, his vision materialized with the founding of POI (Process of Idea), a creative workshop where tradition and innovation fuse into unique works. A Material Poetics Marcello’s signature lies in reusing reclaimed materials to create sculptural forms that evoke powerful emotions and prompt reflection on contemporary social issues. In Murmur, he confronts us with the anguished scream of restless souls—masks transformed by collective suffering into surreal plasticity, echoing ethical and societal decay. In The Silent Cry, a brightly colored bird “vivificantem” carries two eggs as symbols of resilience and rebirth, triumphing over death’s decay. In Materiality, a red female torso ignites sensuality as a manifesto of women’s power against bodily commodification—a call to shatter the chains of subjugation. Prestigious Exhibitions Marcello’s works have captivated audiences at major national and international events, including: Biennale di Sanremo (2023) Sardinian Artistic Craft Exhibitions (2023/2024) Artbox Project Miami 4.0 (2023) Art Padova (2024) ArtExpo Basel (2024) Casa del Arte Palma 2.0 (2024) Arte Genova (2025) Arte Parma (2025) Cannes Fashion Official (2025) His creations are now featured in permanent collections at prestigious venues such as Porto Cervo, San Pantaleo, and Mater Olbia. A Look to the Future Ever evolving, Marcello continues to transform ideas into works that speak to heart and mind. Through a masterful balance of aesthetics and message, his art invites the public to reflect, awaken, and join a collective journey toward change.
