Cave Johnson

Cave Johnson is an American artist living in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University, School of Architecture. After a thirty year successful career in building design and construction, he is now a fulltime artist. Painting for a number of years, Cave has developed a unique style he defines as Throw Down. Various viscosities of color filaments are thrown at the canvas using different rhythms and movements to create a distinctive linear abstract product. Numerous layers of paint are applied repeatedly over time to achieve the textured appearance of intertwined colors. As a fluids mechanic, he carefully balances color and space to achieve a rhythmic flow across the surface of each painting. By personally selecting the pallet of colors, his clients can obtain a work of art that compliments the surroundings. His work is currently in private collections in Austin, Horseshoe Bay, Highlands Lakes and Dallas Texas.

Expressing my subconscious feelings, I control the rhythm and motion of the paint thrown down on each canvas. As a piece progresses, I blend and balance the color pigments in the space around them. My paintings are an action story with colors as the characters.
