I am an artist. It is as much apart of my nature as much as art infiltrates and is infiltrated by every other aspect of human learning. For art is the flowering upon the tree of knowledge. The branches of science and math and history and culture flourish with the leaves that are the outgrowth of any and all learned fields and disciplines; yet it is art that flowers from these branches to yield the fruit, perhaps forbidden, that nourishes us, enlightens us and makes us human.
Hence, I spend considerable effort absorbing the knowledge from other fields to better inform my art. I am extremely influenced by history, art history, math and geometry, anatomy, psychology, mythology and symbology, literature, archaeology and anthropology. I hope that my art may flower from this knowledge base, incorporating my own personal allegory with archetypal imagery and that which is disturbing and beautiful. I am particularly fond of Symbolism, Surrealism, Expressionism, Pre-Raphaelites, Dada, but I do consider myself to be a contemporary artist working within the context of a Post-Modern artistic era.
