Carol Davis

I grew up with art, my father was an impressionistic painter who always had a canvas on his easel in our den that he was working on.
When I was young he would take me to the art museum. We’d stand in front of a painting, Cezanne was his favorite and explain to me what went into creating that painting – focal point, light logic, perspective. He’d talk about color- hue, tone, shade, tint.
All of these elements my dad taught me I use in my mosaics. Painting with glass would best describe how I create my pieces.
I capture moments of nature in photographs then transform those beautiful moments using pieces of colored glass, which I hand cut piece by piece.
I am in awe of the exquisite beauty of nature. The luscious curve of a tree can stop me in my tracks. The deep red of a flower can leave me speechless.
I am an avid environmentalist and deeply cherish nature’s pure beauty, which influences every piece I create.
I frame my pieces as you would a painting.
I live and work in Los Angeles.
