Gilles Fau

I paint the ocean at nightfall and the small figure who stands before it. Since 2004 my work has moved towards lyrical abstraction, enriched by training in psychoanalysis and inspired by the vast landscapes of my childhood. Now settled in the Morbihan, between the sea and the countryside, I build my skies and shores in layers of paint on canvas, wood and watercolour paper. These works invite contemplation: a quiet moment alone before something far larger than ourselves.

Painting has always been an essential means of expression for me since childhood, a space where my emotions naturally took shape. My artistic journey took a decisive turn when I joined the Atelier de la Maison des Artistes, a place of meeting and learning that nurtured my creative vision.

In 2004, my work evolved towards lyrical abstraction, an exploration of my inner landscapes and deep emotions. This evolution was enriched by training in psychoanalysis, allowing me to better understand human dynamics, an aspect I incorporate into my works.
