Born and raised in Chicago and currently living in Wisconsin, I attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1957 and began working in metal at that time. Other artistic venues included wood, stone and fabric. My works, at that time, were shown in several juried exhibits while being represented by several important Chicago galleries including the gallery of the Art Institute.
Following military service I set aside my artistic efforts and took a position as editor of a trade publication devoted to the apparel industry. Upon my retirement and subsequent move to Wisconsin I resumed sculpting. Recent works have won several awards. Other examples of my works can be seen on my web sight; .
It is my feeling that an artistic statement must, like good writing, be bold, concise and straight forward. Each element of the work must contribute meaningfully to the finished statement. At the same time, the artist must be able to impart a harmonious eloquence that determines the work's artistic worth. To achieve these qualities in a material as unyielding as steel in the challenge of the dired6 metal sculptor.
