Mario Kicker is a European artist. Born in Austria, raised in Germany, and having studied, among other places, at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, he now lives and works in France. Since 2014, he has dedicated himself entirely to his artistic practice and has exhibited his work throughout Europe.
His work emerges at the intersection of structure, form, and color. Combining a wide range of media, materials, and techniques, he navigates between order and chance, control and openness. Rather than following a predetermined idea, Kicker approaches the artistic process as a form of exploration, where new possibilities often reveal themselves only through the act of making.
Curiosity plays a central role in his practice. Kicker is drawn to the unexpected and to those moments when a work begins to develop a life of its own. His formal education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam laid the foundation, but in 2014 he consciously chose to continue his path outside of academic structures in order to work more freely and directly.
Mario Kicker has presented his work in a variety of contexts, from galleries and juried exhibitions to his own projects. He has been represented by Black Heath Gallery London (2019), Galerie Kunststück Berlin (2014), and the true limpet gallery Wageningen (2013).
Invitations by expert juries most recently brought him to the Mountain Art Project (2025), where he successfully sold all of his major works. Earlier exhibitions included Atelier Gausz Hamburg (2023) and Halle 50 Munich (2021).
Under the title DIE mARkT he has organized his own interactive and interdisciplinary exhibitions, most recently at the Orangerie Munich (2024) and previously at the Circle Culture Gallery Hamburg (2023).
He has also held solo exhibitions at Ausstellungsraum (2022) and Galerie Loft 8 (2022) in Vienna, as well as at the Goldberg Studios Munich (2020).
