American Artist Jen Lester creates Expressive Contemporary paintings. Jen Lester's artistic roots are firmly planted in the visionary arts movement, as well as modern expressionism and has evolved over time. Always exploring new mediums, the artist now converges the world of physical art and new media. Much of her art is drawn from her own internal world. The artist is continually exploring themes, variations, materials. The act of painting, creating, is her passion and what drives her. "The physical paintings are just trapped moments in time, a record of something magical and intangible that can only be felt. I think people respond to truth, and direct raw energy, and I find this is what draws viewers into my work. I believe art is the highest form of communication we have to offer each other. Sometimes I explore color variations of a piece, if it seems to speak to me strongly. Some shapes and colors seem almost archetypal, calling to my soul illuminating the intangibles of life. A dance, an intimate conversation happens between me and the paint, shapes and medium I am working with, until it is time to part ways, having said all that needs to be said." Jen Lester's unique style is created by combining classical techniques and craftsmanship with the modern. The artist calls her work 'Intuitive Symbolism'. Jen Lester creates paintings on canvas or wood, in acrylic and sometimes oil- as well as hand pressed prints from her own carved blocks, similar in technique to classical Japanese print making.
