Adhkar e subh – illumination Painting

Salam and Hello, I am Waqas and I am an Arabic Calligraphy artist based in Auckland, New Zealand. I collaborate with my wife Sameera Waqas and create Arabic calligraphy Art. Our work is modern, contemporary, and Abstract. We also do traditional work and bespoke artwork. I always had a love for Arabic calligraphy. It helps me keep calm and relax, as Arabic calligraphy also teaches you how to be persistent, and patient. I am now studying traditional calligraphy script Thuluth and Naskh from Hoca Haji Noor Din, master calligrapher and student of master of master calligraphers Hasan Celebi. My focus is Thuluth and Naskh scripts but I am quite proficient in other scripts e.g. Al-Sunbali, Al-Wisam, Al-Dewani, Modern Kufic and many other freestyle scripts. I am determined to get my IJJAZZA (traditional calligraphy certification) and spread this beautiful art to others. Hi, I am Sameera and I am a self-taught artist. Painting has always helped me calm down and spare my mind from the worries of life. I am a big advocate of women's mental health and the one thing that really helped me has been an expression of thoughts and feeling through art. Through my work, I aim to encourage women to express and connect more through a medium they love and never look back.
