Los Angeles artist Patter Hellstrom travels exhibiting her work while examining the alchemy of how experience is lived out, dwelling in the constancy of change despite our desire for permanence. Her isolated brush movements executed with mudra-like precision give physical expression to an inner state of being. She offers a platform to investigate the dichotomy between thought and emotion; a curious space is ripe with a complexity.
Relocating her studio from the NYC metro area to San Francisco has inspired her for the last decade, with the natural beauty of California. Her work has been acquired by outstanding corporate collections such as JPMorgan Chase and museums like the Nantong Art Museum in China. Hellstrom was the first contemporary artists to mount a solo exhibition in NYC’s historic landmark Federal Hall on Wall Street.
“Quick Response” is her most recent solo debut of interactive works blending traditional painting discipline with innovative media and interactive technology. Offering the viewer new ways to connect with her abstract art. First glance is a surface with dazzling color and movement then with the click of a smart phone app through a digital portal moving deeper into each work of art.
