Helene Buttling

Helene Buttling is a British artist working in Pastels and Acrylics. She is fascinated by light and shape which invariably determines the subject whether a landscape, portrait or still life. She enjoys architectural studies with their angles and contained spaces which often evoke a stillness, an intensity of shadows, a captured moment.
Working mainly in pastels and acrylics particularly palette knife application to obtain movement and texture.

Born in Kenilworth, England, she worked in Graphic art and marketing near London in the 1970's. Finding the world of commercial art too constraining she moved to South Wales with her husband where she concentrated on portraits and the wild landscapes of the region. Both exhibiting and organizing exhibitions. Moving to France in 1992 she has exhibited in international salons in Normandy, St. Petersburgh, Krakov, Warsaw, Italy and has had solo exhibitions in galleries in South West France and Paris. Her work is in private collections in Europe and the United States.

1999 – Painting selected by the Bank Credit Agricole for the opening of their bank in Salgau, Germany.
2001 – 2003 – Three International exhibitions in Normandy with the French Pastel Association.
2002 – 2003 – Work selected by the European Arts Commission for an international exhibition in St. Petersburg at the Beaux Arts and in Italy.
2002 – Solo exhibition at the Chateau Talleyrand du Perigord, Charente, France.
2002-2003-2005-2006 – Exhibition “Dix” with work selected from 70 artists from all over France at the Chateau Talleyrand du Perigord in Chalais, Charente, France.
2004, 2005 et 2008 – International exhibition of Pastels in Poland, Krakow, Warsaw, Novi Sacz, organised by the Minister of Culture of Poland in association with the Malapolska Gallery.
2006 – Pastel Association of Perigord in Poland.
2007 – Solo Exhibition, Aubeterre sur Dronne, France.
2008 – Solo exhibition at La Galerie 4 Saisons, St. Aulaye , Dordogne, France.
2008 – Solo exhibition at La Galerie Mona Lisa, St. Germain des Près, Paris.
