At the core of my work lies a deep commitment to crafting a visual legacy of liberation, celebrating the resilience and strength of Black women. Through my art, I portray moments of resistance intertwined with elements of joy, leisure, imagination, and pleasure. It is within these multifaceted experiences that the true spirit of liberation manifests. Liberation in the context of Black womanhood resonates deeply with me, as it signifies the reclaiming of our narrative and the dismantling of oppressive systems that have historically marginalized us. Liberation embodies the essence of true autonomy and allows us the freedom to celebrate and express our unique identities while unapologetically embracing our heritage and culture. Through liberation, we forge paths of empowerment, breaking barriers to create a future where Black women thrive. Influenced and inspired by the rich tapestry of Black women's literature, Afrofuturism, and the pulsating rhythms of Black music, my creations weave together a symphony of visual narratives rooted in resistance. Working primarily with acrylic, multimedia, and oil pastels, I strive to capture the profound essence of Black womanhood and liberation in my art. Clean lines and patterns are the hallmarks of my visual language. I love creating striking imagery that commands the viewer's attention with immediacy. Through the interplay of bold colors and patterns, I seek to evoke emotions, spark contemplation, and ignite conversations. My art is an ode to the power and beauty of Black womanhood. It is an affirmation of our strength, our resilience, and our unyielding spirit. With every brushstroke and every vibrant hue, I invite viewers to engage with the complexities of our narratives, to witness the untold stories, and to recognize the universal threads that connect us all.
