Cyrille Mulot is a fine art photographer based in Caen, France, though his artistic journey is deeply infused with the memories of his youth in Morocco. In his adopted Normandy, he has exchanged the blue skies of his childhood for the more contrasted heavens cherished by the Romantics. His main artistic practice lies in the creation of portraits, a field in which he excels. Often, Cyrille stages romantic characters to conceive a dark and aesthetic universe that fuses history and mythology. Each portrait is envisioned as a scene suspended between realism and invention, where the face becomes a mask, a trace, an enigma. He seeks out the imperceptible flaw and the realistic lighting that lend his portraits a subtle sense of decadence, a melancholia that recalls the worlds of circus and cabaret. Cyrille prefers to work alone on his projects, conceptualizing and producing each composition himself.
