Madhu Gopal Rao Rama

Madhu Gopal Rao is a visual artist based between Hyderabad and Indore in India, working across photography and abstract painting. Graduated in fine arts, he explores the intersections of history, culture, and transformation, creating works that resonate with both visual richness and conceptual depth.

His recent solo exhibition Metamorphosis: A Journey through Kakatiya and Vijayanagara Architecture at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, highlighted his ongoing engagement with heritage as a living, evolving entity. Through a series of large-format works, he transformed the intricate forms, weathered textures, and spatial rhythms of Kakatiya and Vijayanagara monuments into layered, abstract compositions. The works bridged the gap between representation and abstraction, allowing the architecture’s stone, shadow, and history to dissolve into a poetic visual language. This body of work reflected his ability to distill centuries of cultural memory into an immersive, contemplative experience.
