Jan Kerman

I am a professional artist from Helsinki, Finland, who specialises in paintings with ultraviolet led light strips with built-in frames. I paint with oil and acrylic colours, with all parts cut and put together by myself. I wanted to explore the idea of how a conventional 2D square painting could be much more than just a painting, evolving into a superior 3D UV-LED painting.

These 3D UV-LED paintings can be viewed as combinations of designer light installations and paintings. They light the room with a calming purple fluorescent glow that radiates a 395-405nm ultraviolet light, perfectly complementing your favourite room. They are truly unique, conversation-starting centrepieces.

You can experience them with the UV-LEDs switched on or off; either way, the painting will look different, since I have combined fluorescent acrylics with manufactured oil paints to create a new kind of art product. Switch the lamps on or off, depending on your present mood.
