Anastasia Prymachenko, a Ukrainian-born artist residing in San Antonio, Texas, radiates creativity. Anastasia prides herself with creating visually stimulating oil sketches and paintings! Leveraging color and texture to keep viewer's eye moving by bringing competing elements into a piece, each brushstroke narrating tales of movement, life, and her perception of the world.
Colorful Emotions and Bold Strokes: Anastasia's work dances on the edge of emotion. Initially drawn to art to cope with her mental health and transform her distressing episodes into beauty, her paintings come alive with vibrant, bold, aggressive strokes. She employs vivid colors and schemes to create vibrant landscapes filled with intricate detail.
Texture and Movement: Very drawn to dimension and it's use to keep the viewer's eye moving throughout the piece, Anastasia's signature style uses impasto to accentuate specific elements of her paintings, adding depth. Recently, she has been experimenting with adding an element of velvety softness and other texturing techniques to parts of her paintings to add to the dramatic effect
Impressionism and Post-Impressionism Influences: largely a self-taught artist, Anastasia's artistic roots lie in the works of luminaries like Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, and Cassatt. These masters of light and color left an indelible mark on her creative spirit. In the early start to her practice, Anastasia reproduced works in order to learn fundamental oil painting techniques and color theory. Being a lifetime learner, Anastasia finds value in continuously learning from master-artists' work.
Technical Background: Anastasia comes from a technical background, having earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2019 and enjoying a 5 year career in the field. This allows her to have a technical edge when it comes to approaching and supporting her art work. She is very interested in utilizing technology to support viewer experience in the exhibition setting.
Anastasia enjoys adding intricate details to all aspects of her artwork, not just the focal point. This approach invites viewers to explore the entire painting, creating the illusion of a living, breathing piece of art.
