Abbraccio Painting

I am an Italian/Swedish artist who blends traditional and contemporary techniques in my work. Born and raised in Italy, I have been living both in Sweden and USA. After moving to Sweden, I shifted my focus from drawing and photography to abstract painting, taking inspiration from both American Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art movements. My textured pieces are an exploration of perception, emotion, and the environment around me. Through my art, I aim to convey the dynamic interplay between these elements, inviting viewers to engage with the layers of meaning within each piece. My artistic practice explores the intricate interplay of perception, emotion, and the environment. My creative journey is driven by a fusion of intuition and methodical exploration. Theinitial spark of color, texture, or found object often guides my process, taking precedence over preliminary sketches. I embrace curiosity and experimentation, rigorously refining my ideas through a structured framework informed by my background in science. This interplay allows me to transform complex emotions into cohesive visual narratives that resonate with depth and meaning. Having immersed myself in the cultural landscapes of Italy, the USA, and Sweden, my artistic voice is profoundly shaped by these experiences. Italy's rich history inspires a deep appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship, while the vibrant energy of the USA and its influential art movements fuel my desire to experiment and innovate. The simplicity and connection to nature inherent in Swedish culture instill a sense of balance and serenity in my work. My technique involves layering impasto and assembling unconventional materials such as sand, metal, plastic, and wool in my paintings. In my sculptures, I combine diverse elements like wool textile, steel wool, paper, metal, clay, and stone to create textured and thought-provoking forms. Ultimately, I strive to create art that resonates with viewers on a visceral level, fostering a sense of connection through shared human experiences of love, loss, and discovery. By exploring themes of tradition, heritage, and the beauty of the natural world, I hope to ignite dialogue and introspection, inviting viewers to contemplate the complexities of the human condition and our relationship with the world around us.
