Cassandra Constant

I was born and brought up in Madrid where I now live and work, having lived during part of the '80s in London. It was during this time that I saw an exhibition of Raoul Dufy´s work which really inspired me, and at 26 I did an about change in my working career to go into the creative world - initially wanting to be a textile designer.

In the last 25+ years I have had more than twenty solo shows and participated in many more group shows in Spain, Europe, Bermuda and Japan. Although painting is my main activity, I have carried out many commercial and private design commissions ... from painting murals, illustrations for advertising and promotions, designing logos, leaflets, furniture, apparel, interior design projects including a small hotel, Casa de Santiago in Albarracín, outside Madrid. Clients have included the Ritz Hotel, Inter-Continental Hotel, Häagen Dazs, International Book Club, Diageo, Glenfiddich Whisky, Bayer Pharmaceuticals.

Life is what inspires me: Movement and color, travelling as much as I can, and in the mind ... I like to weave it all together, with paint, paper, pencils, fabric, wire, plastics ... to construct, create, build both as a two dimensional piece or a sculpture or installation. I love working throu...
