Biographical Data of Janusz Mulak

Janusz Mulak was born in Warsaw where he attended the Joachim Lelewel School in the Warsaw district of Żoliborz. He took part in painting classes held in the culture centre in Elektoralna Street which were conducted by the famous painter Barbara Jonscher. Later he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the studio of Prof. Jacek Sempoliński and Prof. Bohdan Urbanowicz as well as in the studio of architectural design run by Prof. Romuald Gutt. Janusz Mulak received a distinction at the world competition of art academies, organized at Gramercy Park in New York. He designed the stage for a pantomime performance called "Cheerful town" at the "Hybrydy" student theatre. In 1967 Janusz Mulak was awarded a Diploma with Honours. His diploma project received the 1st Award of the Ministry of Culture and Art (award named after Bartoszek and Bobowski) at the competition for the best diploma project at the Polish art academies. This work was also shown at the II Biennial of Spatial Forms in Elbląg ("Galeria El").
