Artist Statement
My work is rooted in a sustained, attentive engagement with natural environments — not as subjects to be depicted, but as conditions to be experienced.
I explore how landscapes communicate beyond narrative and representation, through shifts of light, color, rhythm, and atmosphere. By reducing recognizable elements, my images move toward abstraction, preserving the sensory and perceptual qualities of a place rather than its literal form.
Working primarily with landscape and macro perspectives, I am interested in images that function as quiet spatial fields — inviting slowed perception, focus, and sustained attention.
Shaped by early experiences near the Baltic Sea in Riga, Latvia, and influenced by an architectural way of seeing, my practice is guided by an interest in structure, balance, and spatial coherence.
Ultimately, my work explores the intersection of nature, abstraction, and human perception, offering spaces for contemplation rather than spectacle.
