Elizabeth Wiley was born in Abilene Texas, where she learned to ride dressage. She studied fine art at University of Texas at Arlington. She now lives in Dallas and works full time as an equestrian artist.
“My style is loose and free. There are graphic elements with playful layers of paint. I want to capture the gracefulness, energy and the communication between horse and rider. I simplify my subject and often leave areas unpainted or left out. I want it to be a mix of expressionism, graphic and watercolor characteristics. My paintings are time capsules, capturing the emotion of the moment in each painting. I hope that work inspires love for horses and expresses the elegance of the wonderful beings”.
Her work has been featured in Crate & Barrel catalogues and in articles in Horse and Style Magazine, The Chronicle of the Horse Magazine, Heels Down Magazine, EtsyDallas, Maryland Equestrian, and Paard Verzameld.
Wiley, who credits her mother for her love of horses, is now passing that love onto her two children who are taking riding lessons.
