Jiban Biswas

I am a freelance artist, based in Kolkata. I was born in 1982, in a village in the district of Birbhum, West Bengal, India. In the year 2006, I received my Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta, the oldest art institution in India, presently one of the pioneer art institutions of the country.

As a child I grew up in the midst of nature and animals. In my paintings, I try to project myself as I am. I feel that the cow, with its continuos effort to understand the trends of modernity with an un-matched curiosity and bewilderment, can be best described as the emblem of my own self.
