Mihai Mârza is a Romanian contemporary artist based in Alba Iulia. His practice has evolved from raw, pop-inflected chaos into a more architectural language — one where invented landscapes, geometric intrusions, and solitary figures map the interior life.
His earlier works drew from graffiti culture, cartoon iconography, and emotional overload. That energy hasn't disappeared — it has restructured. The new series, Synthetic Landscapes, replaces noise with terrain: obsessive contour lines, objects that don't belong, a lone human trying to orient himself in a world built from systems rather than nature.
Across all of his work, the subject is the same: the gap between what we feel and what we can make sense of. The canvases are large. The figures are small. The geometry never fully resolves.
Mârza works in acrylic on canvas and ships worldwide from his studio in Romania.
