EXHIBITIONS
Shiela Molato is a visual artist and a photographer who specializes in non-representational art.
Her recent solo exhibit entitled 'Placid', unites muted colors and varying textures on panel, birthing imaginary landscapes that evoke the serenity and reflection summoned by horizons on long flights and clear sunsets.
An avid traveler, her pieces are infused with the inspiration she has found during her extensive travels. She transforms her audience to tourists, immersing them in unfamiliar terrains, and treating them to works that draw out a wide range of emotions.
Her first solo collection is heavily influenced by zen philosophy and the growing minimalist culture of the Japanese. Although the previous originated from China, she has appreciated it in the streets and people of Japan.
Her sparse compositions belie an expertise in the medium that the artist has honed on her own, a nurse working overseas who left her practice to heed the call of her creative pursuits.
Every element in her paintings was meticulously selected, reflecting the ideas of mindfulness and of engaging only in what is essential. Her works kindle the same peace and rumination as the philosophies she has made tangible.
