There has always been something about the faces of individuals, their bodies, gestures, the way light plays on the skin, the eyes, hair that entices me to create. When I’m working on a portrait I feel completely at home in my skin, as if nothing could be more natural. On occasion other subject matter catches my eye. Perhaps the way a leaf or flower appears at a certain angle or the manner in which a landscape or an old photograph speaks to my sensibilities. Before becoming a full-time fine artist I worked as an illustrator so I tend to be drawn to narrative. Likewise, I’m also attracted to simplicity and striving to a capture a single, frozen moment. I’m fascinated by lighting and the way that it can change and transform a scene or mood. Most importantly I want to bring something special and beautiful to the lives of my clients. I hope to stir the same level of emotion that consumes me during the creative process.
