With a hands-on approach to learning, Eugene Perry began his journey in a metal fabrication shop, taking an entry-level role where he mastered various welding techniques. After earning his certification, he started experimenting with scrap metal, transforming discarded materials into artworks. His creative exploration deepened when he met Jung Park, a frame shop and art gallery owner, who encouraged him to refine his craft. There, he mastered his primary painting techniques and developed his signature finishing styles. In 2007, Perry collaborated with Park on several pieces that were sold to establishments in the Philadelphia area. During this time, Perry showcased his work at First Fridays in Old City, Philadelphia, receiving positive feedback from the public, which boosted his confidence in pursuing his artistic career. After three years of creating art before and after work and during lunch breaks, Perry was unfortunately laid off from his job, along with two others, due to business slowdown. Unsure of his next steps, he acted quickly, purchasing an inexpensive welder and hand tools to continue creating art in his single-car garage townhome, which he shared with his wife and first daughter. He began to network with other artists, participated in art festivals, and attended showings through galleries. Fast-forward to 2011, Perry gained a profound understanding of the art world, and he continued perfecting his craft at his separate studio in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia. By this point, he had become established and recognized in his category, attending major art shows like Artexpo New York and Art Basel Miami. He also received significant commission work from individuals through shows, interior designers, and building architects. Some of his noteworthy accomplishments include pieces in apartment building lobbies, hotel grounds, and his larger "Building Blocks" collection on the grounds of the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut. With a long list of achievements, Perry has truly become an international artist with collectors in the United States and abroad. Perry currently resides in South Florida, where he continues creating innovative, modern, and sophisticated sculptures designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
