Sinclair Webster

Sinclair has developed an original style with a strong graphic base and a bold palette. There are a lot of European influences, reflecting his mother’s Flemish background, and the subject matter is diverse.

“My ideas start with drawings capturing emotionally charged images…sometimes a sketch will resurface into a painting years later. Shapes and the rhythms between them have always fascinated me…. In my pictures areas of flat colour are varied by the texture of brushstrokes and I am always experimenting, aiming for images that are charismatic.”
