Barbora Kachlikova

I am a Czech painter living and working in the Finnish countryside.

To do plein air painting is for me a way how to study and observe my models in a new, vibrant and intensive way. This never can happen when painting is based on photography material and created in studio. The plein air painting style became a natural part of my working process during traveling.

It only takes seconds to take a photo, but the plein air painting catches the model situation differently. Atmospheric moisture and small droplets of night rain soak into the ink paintings. They are paintings capturing the momentary experience, the atmosphere caught by quick gestures... Perhaps these paintings share the depth of experiencing everyday life and the moments of meeting joy and loneliness that resides in each of us.
