Born in 1951 in Peterborough UK, I am a technology analyst, journalist and artist/photographer. I have been an amateur photographer for many years, and was taught colour darkroom in Australia. I now take photographs for my articles and work digitally - the abstract/surreal photography I like is much less clumsy developed on the PC.
I have just added the ARPS to my LRPS Distinction with the Royal Photographic Society. I'm influenced by surrealist artists and by photographers like Man Ray and Lee Miller.
I strongly believe that a RAW image in the camera is a digital negative, which is "developed" in software such as Lightroom. However, although one can change tones, contrast etc to bring up part of an image, I think any truly photographic image should be visible in front of the lens, to someone beside the photographer, not created in software.
BSc in Chemistry. Member of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS and ARPS), the Britsh Computer Society (CITP), the National Union of Journalists and the Institute of Directors.
