Dan Petley is a prolific, independent artist. His work is an embodiment of his eclectic yet focused ensemble of abilities.
His paintings are intended to be viewed as relics, an embodiment of his relationship with the history of painting, which explore the progressive cultural role of established masterpieces.
His work reconciles them as objects with divine power, by meditating on their devolved roles as public and private property, album covers and souvenirs.
He is well known for producing a series of large scale self funded public art projects, including the Brick Project and Moon Temple.
I achieved first degree honors in Fine Art Practices at Plymouth College of Art in 2009, where I was awarded the Doris Gerard Scholarship.
