The immaterial connection to the natural world informs the abstract work of Persian-born artist Firouz Farman Farmaian, whose lifetime spent in exile in Paris, Andalusia, and North Africa profoundly influenced both his creative practice and his personal character.
Common themes in his work can span from nature to architectonics and the interplay between realism and abstraction. Firouz FarmanFarmaian's ever-evolving body of work presents deep underlying exploratory elements unified by recurring motifs of movement and texture.
The raw and visceral emotion conveyed through his pieces is moderated by material properties, often created, and sourced within the context of collaborative tribal craftsmanship. Each work represents the result of careful contemplation regarding the techniques and tools necessary to achieve a singular aesthetic and emotional intention.
Firouz employs a diverse range of media, including painting, print, sculpture, film, and even music. These works are frequently presented as installations or performances, serving as momentary meditations on the energy and motivation found in the visible world.
