I find hints and echoes of lives past in decayed architecture, neglected abodes and weathered statuary. These forgotten monuments, built to endure, whisper to me of life's struggles and sadnesses. Triumphs and laughter. Such sorrowful relics are bursting with historical memories that connect us to those who've gone before: Loved ones. Strangers. I yearn to know the details of their lives - who they loved, how they died. The crumbling edifices they left behind tether me to the now, shining light on the fleeting wonder and joy that define our lives. It is this very mantle of mortality that frees our souls to soar.
