Frank Nichols

Having grown up to an artist mother and wealthy father, Frank Nichols has always felt a sentiment of undeserved privilege. This translated into a continuous urge to live for something more meaningful and fight the conventional life of superficial wants and the constant need to 'grow up', which was often at odds with the values held by those that surrounded the artist. This sense of contradiction is reflected in Nichols' art either as a form of playful mockery or through moments that characterize frustration and deep sadness, however, simple child-like characters can also be discerned since the artist considers those to be the most innocent and truthful times. The artist strong dislike for attention and profit is the primary reason for Nichols' art never to have been shown, until recently when a close friend asked the artist whether the works could be displayed, finally convincing the artist on the premise that they may evoke a similar sentiment in a stranger and thus lead to a sense of interconnectedness.
